Quavo is taking over the big screen.
The Migos rapper is set to star in the feature-length action thriller Takeover. He will play Guy Miller, a recent parolee who’s attempting to rehabilitate his life, but circumstances force him back into Atlanta’s thriving and dangerous takeover scene. His character must live up to his reputation as one of the slipperiest street operators in a lethal race against time.
“I’m really excited for this opportunity, especially shooting in my hometown of Atlanta,” Quavo said in a statement. “This film is an ideal opportunity to further delve into my craft, and I can’t wait to see how the action plays out in this animated environment.”
Takeover will be produced by Trioscope (The Liberator) in partnership with Quality Films (Ice Cold, How High 2), the expanded film unit of Quality Control, and Atlanta-based film financing group Georgia Production Finance.
Jeb Stuart (Die Hard, The Fugitive) and Brandon Easton (Marvel’s Agent Carter, Transformers: War for Cybertron Trilogy) will write the script. Takeover will be directed by Trioscope Chief Creative Officer Greg Jonkajtys (The Liberator).
Set and filmed in Atlanta, Takeover will explore the city’s street takeover car culture and controversial “sideshows” by bringing to life live-action performances with animation. This is the first of more film projects that will tap into QC’s roster of talent and utilize Trioscope’s animation.
This is not Quavo’s first foray into Hollywood. He made his feature-film acting debut alongside Robert DeNiro, John Malkovich, and Jack Huston in the Randall Emmett-directed film Wash Me in the River, which will be released later this year.
