As news of the 7.2-magnitude earthquake that killed over 300 people and injuring hundreds Saturday (August 14), celebrities are speaking out about the tragedy. One being tennis star Naomi Osaka.
In an effort to show support, the 23-year-old will donate her prize money from next week’s Western & Southern Open to help with recoery efforts. Osaka, who is both Hatian and Japanese shared the news with her 1.1 million followers on Twitter Saturday evening.
“Really hurts to see all the devastation that’s going on in Haiti, and I feel like we really can’t catch a break. I’m about to play a tournament this week and I’ll give all the prize money to relief efforts for Haiti. I know our ancestor’s blood is strong we’ll keep rising.” wrote Osaka.
