Saturday (March 13th), the city of Detroit naturally basked in 313 day. By one fan’s account, however, it would have been all that much sweeter if Big Sean ‘s Detroit mixtape finally made an arrival on streaming services as teased last year.
While the project itself did not touch down, 313 Day was marked with news from the man himself that it would be making its way to DSPs after all.
“Next month the Detroit mixtape will be on all streaming services, re-mixed and mastered properly, finally! Happy 313 day tho,” Sean tweeted.
Detroit was Sean’s fourth mixtape at the time of its release in 2012, arriving via GOOD Music in the form of a good old-fashioned DatPiff download. The project famously caused the site to crash at it was viewed over a million times the day of its release. Since then, the Detroit mixtape has been downloaded over a million times.
With its arrival to streaming services, Detroit will follow suit with a host of other projects of the mixtape golden age that have found new life among fans on their favorite streaming platforms.
Most recently, Sean’s other half Jhene Aiko uploaded her own Sailing Soul(s) mixtape in commemoration of the classic tape’s 10th anniversary.
