Cardi B is speaking out against cyber bullying in the wake of Mac Miller’s death.
The conversation about mental health started following a viral tweet that criticized the Grammys for inviting Mac’s family to the 2019 ceremony, only to watch him lose to Cardi B in the Best Rap Album category.
Cardi responded by sharing a story about how Mac’s family was “rooting for Cardi B” if he didn’t win the Grammy. She questioned the Twitter user’s need to bring up her name and blamed social media for bullying Mac during trying times including his car crash and DUI arrest in May 2018.
“His family didn’t have no mean energy so why you?” asked Cardi. “I hate when ya make hate tweets like this to go viral but where was the love when ya bullied him for months on this app & he was crying out for help? Makin fun of him when he crash his car? Ya don’t care till somebody is gone.”
This is why I express myself whether is on live, twitter or curse people out cause some artist got soo much hurt inside from bullyin on these apps & they afraid to speak & turn to other thing to numb the pain Ya forgot real quick how when he drop the album ya was like “flop””NBC” https://t.co/x3XdErLS0H

She also took the opportunity to raise awareness for victims of online bullying including Mac. “This is why I express myself whether is on live, twitter or curse people out cause some artist got soo much hurt inside from bullyin on these apps & they afraid to speak & turn to other thing to numb the pain Ya forgot real quick how when he drop the album ya was like ‘flop’ ‘NBC.’”
Added Cardi, “Why mention me ? And secondly why they don’t bring the fact that for months People picked on him and put him down on these apps now they only talk about the Grammy incident but don’t bring awareness to the bullying he went thru that affected him.”
Its not only about me .It’s every celeb…Then when they gone they bring up one lil issue but don’t bring the REAL ISSUE UP which is cyber bullying that brings mental health & depression. Now it’s quit . https://t.co/xTjjzAzujn

Cardi warned of the mental health issues brought on by cyber bullying. “Its not only about me .It’s every celeb…Then when they gone they bring up one lil issue but don’t bring the REAL ISSUE UP which is cyber bullying that brings mental health & depression. Now it’s quit.”
Instead of dragging her name, Cardi wants people to focus on the real issue at hand. “He got bullied for months but want to make viral tweets about him loosing a Grammy to get me drag but don’t want to make viral tweets of mental health and how these apps can literally destroy a person mind & spirit.”
Mac Miller was found unresponsive in his Studio City, Calif. home on Sept. 7, 2018. The Los Angeles County Coroner’s office ruled that the 26-year-old rapper died of an accidental overdose of fentanyl, cocaine, and alcohol.
Cardi, who recently made history as the first female rapper to earn a diamond single award, has shown love to Mac in the past. Moments after she won the Grammy for Best Rap Album in 2019, she celebrated backstage and announced that she was sharing the honor with Mac. “I’m sharing this Grammy with you, motherfu**er. Rest in peace,” she said.
