50 Cent Calls Jeezy Desperate for Verzuz with Gucci Mane

50 Cent has more to say about Verzuz.

During his appearance on “The Morning Hustle,” the hip-hop mogul was asked if he would do a Verzuz battle with Fat Joe. However, 50 claims he’s no longer interested in the platform because he doesn’t see its relevancy as people reemerge from their houses.

“I thought Verzuz was something we did when we was stuck in the house,” he said. “As soon as we got out of the house to come back outside, Verzuz didn’t make sense to me.”

Swizz Beatz and Timbaland’s livestream platform was launched at the beginning of the pandemic in March of 2020. “Verzuz to me, that showed up and was the hottest thing. I was paying attention to it, watching it like everybody else,” added Fif. “As soon as we could go back outside, I don’t know why we still doing it.”

He also criticized Jeezy for agreeing to battle Gucci Mane despite their rivalry. According to 50, Jeezy was willing to squash their 15-year-old beef just to promote his album at the time. “I think that was desperation on Jeezy’s part trying to sell a record,” he said.

“I don’t know why he would do that because [Gucci] said, ‘You’re smoking on Pookie Loc,’” 50 said in reference to disrespectful comments made by Gucci about Jeezy’s late friend, Henry “Pookie Loc” Clark, who was shot and killed by Gucci after he attempted to break into his home in 2005. Gucci mocked his death before and during the contentious Verzuz battle in November.

Ultimately, 50 feels that it didn’t produce the results Jeezy was hoping for. “The record didn’t sell,” he said of Jeezy’s album The Recession 2.

Despite 50’s criticism, Verzuz continues to make big moves. Earlier today, it was announced that Triller had acquired the livestream music series. Swizz and Timbaland will become large shareholders in the Triller Network, while allocating a portion of their equity in the company to all 43 performers who have appeared on Verzuz to date.
