Kaalan Walker Found Guilty of Raping Multiple Women and Teens

[ad_1]

Over three years after he was charged with nine counts of sexual assault, rapper KR has been convicted of raping multiple women and teens.

On Monday (April 18), a jury found 27-year-old KR, born Kaalan Walker, guilty of sexually assaulting four women and three teenage girls. However, he was acquitted on charges in connection to three other women who claimed they’d been assaulted by the entertainer, who’s also an actor, according to NBC Los Angeles.

KR was originally arrested on Sept. 11, 2018, by detectives from the Los Angeles Police Department’s Rampart Station. The “Pop Out” rapper was accused by several women of conning them into thinking he would help their music and modeling careers only to rape them. In total, 10 women and teens came forward with claims against the rapper.

“In each of the cases, aspiring models were contacted by Walker via social media with the premise of being hired to work professionally,” the Los Angeles Police Department said in a statement at the time of KR‘s arraignment in 2018. “While alone, each of the victims reported that Walker sexually assaulted them.”

During Monday’s trial, KR’s attorney Andrew Flier painted the rapper as the victim. “The pattern of Mr. Walker is to make false promises and they bought it. … Each one of these women voluntarily made their own decisions,” Flier reportedly told the jury. “He didn’t force them. … It’s payback to Mr. Walker and we’re not going to let that happen.”

Singer Kehlani, who has been a staunch supporter of KR‘s victims, spoke out following the announcement of the verdict.

“This man is going to jail for the rest of his life, guilty as hell,” Kehlani said on Instagram. “And it’s crazy that it took this…for y’all to believe it, because it should have been believed when all this shit came out.”

One of KR‘s victims, Sydney Stanford, also commented on the verdict via social media, expressing relief and frustration.

“This has been happening since 2017,” she captioned a video opining on the latest update in the case. “It has felt like a never ending nightmare. I have been in survival mode for 5 years. It is finally over. May this be your reminder that justice IS possible. Your story does matter and that someone will believe you. This will never happen again. To all his survivors I have and haven’t met, I love you by default and congratulations.”

KR, who played the role of Juju in the 2018 film Supafly, is reportedly facing up to a life sentence. His next court date is May 27.

XXL has reached out to KR’s attorney and Los Angeles Deputy District Attorney Yasmin Fardghassemi for comment.
