Fivio Foreign Says Beyonce Asked Him to Change His Vulgar Lyrics

Fivio Foreign says Beyonce had a problem with some of his bars and made him switch them up.

In an interview on Thursday morning (April 7), with Hot 97’s Ebro in the Morning with Laura Styles and Rosenburg, Fivio explained that in order for Queen B to clear a Destiny’s Child sample from their 1999 smash “Say My Name,” the New York Drill rapper would need to clean up some lyrics that she found to be too vulgar in nature.

The track in question, “What’s My Name,” features guest appearances from Coi Leray and Queen Naija, and when asked whether or not Beyonce had to be the one to give the go-ahead to use the sample, Fivio confirmed that she did indeed clear the use of “Say My Name,” but only after the aforementioned stipulation.

“Shoutout Destiny’s Child, appreciate that, they cleared that joint. I’m sayin’ Big John [Platt] and them,” Fivi told the New York City radio hosts. “Yeah she heard it. She had to hear it, you know what I’m sayin’. She heard it. She made me… it was a little, it was a little vulgar, a little bit for her, at first. I cleaned it up, I cleaned it up. I cleaned it up a lot. It was like, ‘Nah, you can’t be talking ’bout girls like that!”

“What’s My Name” was produced by AayoAA, Bordeaux and NoN native, and is included on Foreign’s debut studio album B.I.B.L.E., which dropped at midnight on Friday (April 8). It contains elements of the Destiny’s Child song’s iconic hook and guitar riff and is a bit of a change of pace from the gritty drill sound that we’re typically used to hearing from the “City of Gods” spitter.
