Alec Baldwin And Producers Sued Over Deadly “Rust” Film Shooting

Actor Alec Baldwin is being sued by the family of a cinematographer who was accidentally shot and killed on a New Mexico film set.
The husband and son of Halyna Hutchins are also suing the producers of the film “Rust” and other crew members.
The wrongful death suit claims the production company broke basic rules for use of a firearm on a film set. They argue “reckless behavior and cost-cutting” caused the fatal incident.
NPR reports Baldwin turned down cross draw gun safety training, and that he was not using a rubber or other kind of prop gun. Both are breaches of industry standards.
The lawsuit alleges that Baldwin and the movie producers “failed to perform industry standard safety checks and follow basic gun safety rules while using real guns to produce the movie Rust, with fatal consequences.”
Baldwin was practicing a scene last October when he fired a live round, striking Hutchins and the film’s director. The director survived while Hutchins died that day.
No charges have been filed against Baldwin. Continue the conversation on social media.
