Lil Baby is putting a jeweler on blast for selling him a fake watch.
Taking to Instagram, the “On Me” rapper showed off his new Patek Philippe Nautilus 40th Anniversary watch, which he purchased from celebrity jeweler Rafaello and Co. for $400,000.
However, the FakeWatchBuster Instagram account informed him that he was sold a fake and noted the differences between a genuine Patek Philippe Nautilus 40th Anniversary timepiece and the one in Lil Baby’s possession. “He got scammed and most probably he paid 400k for that, he should take back his money and blast who sold that fugazi,” wrote the account.
After getting word that he was scammed, Baby slammed Rafaello for selling him a fake. “Now @rafaelloandco y’all Kno better then to sell ME of all people a FAKE Or anything that could be called a FAKE!” he wrote. “I stand on my name the same way y’all should ! Ain’t no such thing as a mistake when that money involved 🤷🏽♂️!! Don’t Fuccin Play Wit me Cause when I’m on that I’m on that.”
Rafaello later issued a lengthy apology, saying he did not know the watch was counterfeit. As a make good, he refunded Baby the $400,000 and also gave him four diamond rings.
“I personally want to apology to Lil Baby for not doing my due diligence when selling him the Patek watch,” he wrote on Instagram Stories. “I should’ve inspected the watch after purchasing it from the dealer. I take full responsibility for not doing my job properly. I personally would NEVER knowingly sell him or anyone else anything that is not 100% authentic.”
Rafaello plans to investigate how he was sold a fake watch in the first place. “I have known Lil Baby for a while and there is nothing fake about him – especially his jewelry and watches,” added the jeweler, who’s been in business for over 20 years. “I want to personally apologize to Lil Baby for what has transpired.”
He continued, “Bottom Line. We stand on our name just like he does, that’s why got 4 rings for FREE and his money back because we didn’t do our home work on the watch and we take full responsibility for that. But let me be clear it didn’t happen intentionally.”
