Dak Prescott’s Dallas Cowboys Take On Tom Brady’s Tampa Bay Buccaneers In NFL Kickoff

The NFL season kicks off tonight and it’s MUST SEE TV.

At 43 years of age, reigning Tampa Bay Buccaneers Super Bowl Champion Tom Brady will help guide his team that includes Mike Evans, Chris Godwin, Antonio Brown and Rob Gronkowski in their season opener against the Dallas Cowboys.

Current NFL odds on SportsBettingDime give Tampa Bay the edge in their matchup with the Cowboys BUT Dallas has a lot to prove not just tonight but for this season under new head coach Mike McCarthy. 

“We need to get as much in as we possibly can between now and the Tampa Bay game,” McCarthy told ESPN recently.

“Our focus is on Tampa. We talked a little bit last night. We started this quest on April 19, there’s 300 days that are available to reach the Super Bowl and in between there you have to keep your eye on the target one day at a time. This is the first game, it’s the most important game because it’s the next game … But I’ve played in that game. I’ve been on both sides of it. The feeling in the opening game, it’s a ton of energy, it’s a great game to compete in. Our guys, trust me, we’re looking forward to it and we can’t wait to get there.”

Last season, Dallas struggled and they finished with a 6-10 record and most notably lost quarterback Dak Prescott who suffered a compound fracture and dislocation to his ankle during their Week 5 win against the Giants.  

Prescott had his ankle surgically repaired and this past offseason the megastar signed a four-year $160 million extension. 

Prescott, who threw for 1,856 yards and nine touchdowns last season, has the support of NFL Hall of Famer Deion Sanders. 

Prime Time thinks the world of him. 

“Dak Prescott is a guy that I adore,” Dallas Cowboys icon Deion Sanders told ESPN’s First Take recently. 

“Dak is a stand-up guy. I look forward to the Cowboys having a good season. I don’t know about great but a good season.”

Offensively, the Cowboys are projected to be very strong, particularly with the return of Prescott. CBS recently noted that Dallas was on a league-best scoring pace (32.6 points per game) with Prescott in the lineup last season, and the team’s starting quarterback is on track to play in the opener. Prescott was on a 16-game pace for more than 6,000 total yards and nearly 40 touchdowns in 2020, and his presence changes the game for Dallas.

“The Cowboys are the real deal,” Bally Sports analyst Brandon “Scoop B” Robinson tells The Source Magazine via email. 

“I really want to see them put up the numbers and be successful. Ezekiel Elliott needs some touches too. Feed big homie the ball y’all.” 

Indeed. 

Yahoo Sports’ Dan Wetzel noted in his column that in fact Elliot is coming off his least productive season as a Dallas Cowboy and some wonder if he has lost his effectiveness after carrying a heavy workload through five professional seasons and a couple years at Ohio State. 

“I’m definitely ready,” Elliott said last week via USA Today.

 “I’m excited. I put a lot of work [getting] to this point. Whether it was months ago, rehabbing the ankle, to the last few [weeks] keeping the feet working while I was letting my arm rest. There is so much work I put into this I’m just excited to go out there and be a part of the full game …”

“Obviously, I have high expectations for myself,” Prescott continued. “I plan to come out starting fast.”
