Lil Baby Declares Himself the ‘Lil Wayne of This Generation’

Lil Baby is crowning himself the Lil Wayne of this era.

The prolific Atlanta rapper made the bold declaration on EST Gee’s “5500 Degrees,” which also features 42 Dugg and Rylo Rodriguez.

“I’m the Wayne of this new generation, ni**as foogazi,” Baby raps on the track from EST Gee’s album Bigger Than Life Or Death. “They can’t f**k with us no type of way, these ni**as too lazy / I’m cut from a different type of cloth, I don’t know who raised ’em.”

Baby has shown his love for Weezy in the past. In an interview with Complex, he declared the Young Money boss the “best rapper of all time.” “I don’t see nobody better than Lil Wayne, period,” he said.

And the respect is mutual. “I loved his voice at first and it kinda reminded me of me when I was younger,” Weezy previously told XXL. “And then his melodies and stuff started getting at me. So that’s what it was. And then I started actually listening to what he’s saying and he talk about the struggle a lot and he’s talking about some real stuff.”

Baby and Wayne are no strangers to collaboration, having worked together on tracks including “I Do It” and “Forever.”

And while Wayne may be considered the G.O.A.T. by his fans, Baby’s fans have also called him a G.O.A.T. “I never call myself a G.O.A.T., I leave that love to the people,” he raps on “Emotionally Scarred.”
