Naomi Osaka is making power moves, on and off the court. In addition to her 4 grand slam winner title, various fashion deals, upcoming Netflix documentary, and her very own Barbie doll replica, the tennis star recently became the first Haitian and Japanese woman to grace the cover of Sports Illustrated’s Swimsuit Issue. The 23-year-old shared the news with her Twitter followers.

“First Haitian and Japanese woman on the cover.” wrote Naomi Osaka.

Osaka was photographed by Yu Tsai, along with Houston rapper Megan Thee Stallion and Pose actress Leyna Bloom. Each of the ladies was chosen as cover girls for the magazine’s 2021 issue.

“If there’s one thing that our cover models have in common, it’s that they don’t have one thing in common,” says MJ Day, Editor in Chief of Sports Illustrated Swimsuit in a press release. “They look different, have different upbringings, have different passions and inspirations. But each is a reminder that beauty comes in many forms.”
