Nicki Minaj Returns to Social Media, Teases New Music

The Queen is back.

After five months away from the spotlight, Nicki Minaj returned to social media on Monday to tease new music. She shared two photos of herself in her pink kingdom, sitting on a desk while wearing pink Crocs and covering herself with heart-shaped pillows. Behind her is a pink neon sign with her name on it, while several Chanel objects surround her.

In her caption, Nicki appeared to tease that new music was dropping Friday. “F R I D A Y,” she captioned the pics, along with the fingers-crossed emoji.

She received support from her legions of fans and famous followers including Normani, Tinashe, and Justine Skye, who shared their excitement in the comments.

The new mom, who welcomed a son last fall, has been absent from social media since January. While she hasn’t released a solo track since “Yikes” in February 2020, last year she dropped collaborations with Davido, NBA YoungBoy, Sada Baby, and Ty Dolla $ign.

In her absence, her Barbz organized a campaign to boost downloads and streams of her song “LLC.” The Queen track hit No. 1 on the U.S. iTunes Hip-Hop/Rap chart nearly three years after its release.
