Jeezy and Jeannie Mai Get Married

Jeezy and Jeannie Mai officially said “I do.”

Following reports that they had applied for a marriage license last month, Vogue reveals that the couple tied the knot in an intimate ceremony in Atlanta on March 27, one year after they got engaged.

The rapper, 43, and “Real” host, 42, wanted to get married at Lake Como or in the South of France, but opted for a small wedding due to the pandemic.

“We were really looking forward to having all of our friends and family there to celebrate,” said Jeannie. “But we had to change all of our wedding plans due to COVID. After Jeezy’s mother unexpectedly passed, we quickly learned that life is too short. And at the end of the day, Jeezy and I really just wanted to become husband and wife. So we decided to turn our original wedding into a mini-mony, where we exchanged our vows in front of our immediate family and a few close friends.”

After all the guests were tested for COVID and confirmed negative, they were shuttled to the surprise location, the couple’s home. The bride wore a custom gown by Galia Lahav that she dreamed up, while the groom donned a champagne blush suit. They exchanged vows during a traditional Vietnamese tea ceremony in the open garden while author and pastor John Maxwell officiated.

“My husband’s vows brought me to tears and joy,” said Jeannie, who was previously married to Freddy Harteis for 10 years. “I couldn’t wipe this smile off my face all day.”

Jeezy honored his late mother, Sharon Denise Jenkins, by placing a pink rose on a seat reserved for her. He made his way down the aisle to Kem’s “I Can’t Stop Loving You,” while the bride followed to the Bee Gees’ “How Deep Is Your Love.” For their first dance, Tyrese serenaded the couple with a surprise performance of “Sweet Lady.”

The newlyweds changed into matching Versace silk pajamas and danced to their favorite hits at the after-party, while guests were gifted custom monogrammed Cozy Earth pajamas and slippers.

The couple met when Jeezy was a guest on “The Real.” “Years later, he asked me out on a date,” recalled Jeannie. “We shared a romantic sushi dinner in Los Angeles and salsa danced the night away. Later that evening, he asked if I could picture spending the rest of my life with him. And crazy enough, I could.”

Jeezy had planned to propose during a planned trip to Vietnam in March 2020, which was canceled because of the COVID crisis. Instead, he organized a Vietnam-themed date night at his house in Los Angeles and proposed in front of the fireplace.

Jeezy is now looking forward to the next chapter. “I’m ready for my new life,” he said.
