History has been made.
Beyoncé became the most decorated singer in Grammy history. Queen Bey won her record-breaking 28th Grammy on Sunday’s Grammy Awards for Best R&B Performance for “Black Parade.” She now passes Alison Krauss for the most Grammy wins ever by a female artist and has the most Grammys of any singer, male or female.
Beyoncé has also tied Quincy Jones for second-most Grammy wins ever. The legendary producer has won 28 Grammys, while late Hungarian-British conductor Georg Solti holds the record with 31 Grammys.
Bey celebrated the historic moment while reflecting on the times. “It’s been such a difficult time so I wanted to uplift, encourage, and celebrate all the beautiful Black queens and kings that continue to inspire me and inspire the whole world,” she said.
“This is so overwhelming. I’ve been working my whole life, since nine years old. I can’t believe this happened. It’s such a magical night,” added Bey.
She also acknowledged her “rock” JAY-Z and Blue Ivy, who won her first Grammy for Best Music Video for “Brown Skin Girl,” which she shared with her mother. “I’m so proud of you and I’m so honored to be your mommy,” she said.
In addition to Best R&B Performance and Best Music Video, Beyoncé went home with two other awards for Best Rap Performance and Best Rap Song for her “Savage” collaboration with Megan Thee Stallion.
