Lovecraft Country was a hit and may have wrapped for the first season but Jonathan Majors is still in bed with some familiar themes.  The feature film was first announced this week and according to Variety, Majors is in talks to star in Gordon Hemingway & the Realm of Chthulu for Netflix. Spike Lee is producing and Stefon Bristol (See You Yesterday) is directing while Majors will star as the title character.

Gordon Hemingway & the Realm of Chthulu is based on Hank Woon’s screenplay with rewrites by Fredrica Bailey and is a period piece that takes place in East Africa in 1928. Major’s lead character is described as “a roguish Black American gunslinger” who joins forces with Ethiopian warrior princess Zenebe to rescue Zenebe’s royal leadership from the clutches of “an ancient evil.”

Even though the film’s title includes “Cthulhu,” Variety reports that the script isn’t based on H.P. Lovecraft’s stories as seen in Lovecraft Country. With that said, there’s no official word if the infamous Lovecraftian monster will actually make an appearance in Gordon Hemingway & the Realm of Chthulu!
