Kodak Black Releases A Statement From Prison After Pleading Guilty

[ad_1] Getty Image Kodak Black has pleaded guilty to gun charges that first put the rapper in jail last May. He allegedly falsified legal documents in order to obtain three firearms and was later arrested in Miami just before he was set to perform at the Rolling Loud Festival. The rapper was taken into custody and denied bail after a judge deemed him dangerous to the community. Kodak initially pleaded not guilty but has since changed his stance. Even so, he is still reaching the public from behind bars. He recently posted a video of a controversial freestyle in which he rapped about wanting to punch Yung Miami in the stomach. Kodak has since...

The video is filled with visual puns and shows a corresponding image to each lyric of the song. The video begins with a message from Chance. “Sorry ’bout the break. The Best Rap Albums Of August 2019

[ad_1] Getty Image This August was full of high-quality releases. There were several really good albums that didn’t make this month’s list, a testament to how well hip-hop collectively closed out an already amazing summer of music. There were high-profile offerings from Missy, Rick Ross, and Young Thug, as well as albums from Rapsody and Little Brother which are some of the best we’ll get all year. Up and comers BROCKHAMPTON and Cousin Stizz also released strong projects. Here’s the list, in no order: Little Brother — May the Lord Watch Little Brother has had fans waiting for a followup to Getback for over 13 years — and their return was well worth the wait....

Earthgang Announced A Release Date For ‘Mirrorland’ With A Music Video

[ad_1] [embed]https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I_J1VBssh1I[/embed] Atlanta rap group Earthgang is gearing up for a big release. The duo, comprised of rappers Johnny Venus and Doctur Dot, has been cryptically telling fans to keep their eyes on YouTube, but they have now given more concrete details. Following their single, “Up,” Earthgang announced their debut album, Mirrorland is slated for release September 6th. Earthgang announced the album’s release by dropping a music video to their song “Ready to Die.” The “Ready to Die” music video opens with a shot of a spinning record. The camera pans to show one rapper laying on the floor and the other on the ceiling. The remainder of the video places Earthgang as the...

[LISTEN ]Francis And The Lights, Bon Iver, Kanye West ‘Take Me To The Light’

[ad_1] Getty Image Kanye West is gearing up for the release of his long-awaited album — which may have undergone a title change since it was conceived as “Yandhi” — but that didn’t stop him from reuniting with “Monster” collaborator Bon Iver on a new track from Francis And The Lights called, fittingly, “Take Me To The Light.” The song, which published on DSPs over the weekend, is the second collaboration between all three acts after 2016’s “Friends.” Like “Friends,” it’s a synth-heavy, uplifting track featuring spiritual lyrics from Kanye and Justin Vernon of Bon Iver. Check it out below. [embed]https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4981F5nd3So[/embed] “Take Me To The Light” is the title track from Francis’ own upcoming album,...

Is Post Malone Still A Hip-Hop Outsider?

[ad_1] Getty Image Arriving as he did at the height of the debate surrounding cultural appropriation in hip-hop, it’s no surprise that Post Malone has become one of music’s most polarizing figures. What is surprising is how popular he’s become in spite of the controversy. With omnivorous musical influences and an affable personality, he quickly became one of rap’s rising stars, so much so that his upcoming album, Hollywood’s Bleeding, is one of the genre’s most anticipated projects of 2019 despite featuring some decidedly non-hip-hop guest appearances from names like Ozzy Osbourne. It’s especially surprising in light of the controversy Post sparked himself when he made disparaging comments about rap music a few months...

Lizzo’s ‘Truth Hurts’ Is Officially No. 1 On The ‘Billboard’ Hot 100

[ad_1] Getty Image In September 2017, Lizzo released “Truth Hurts” as a single, and it was relatively uneventful at the time, as the track didn’t even make it onto the charts. Things are much different now, though. The song appears on her recently released album Cuz I Love You, and over the past few months, it has become a sleeper hit for Lizzo, debuting on the Billboard Hot 100 chart and working its way towards the top. Actually, it has reached the top now: “Truth Hurts” is officially the No. 1 song on the Hot 100 chart dated September 7. It took the song a while to make it to No. 1. It debuted...

Cardi B Congratulates Lizzo For Reaching No. 1 On The Hot 100

[ad_1] Getty Image It’s been a little under two years since Cardi B’s “Bodak Yellow” climbed to the top of the Billboard Hot 100 chart and already, the results of the Bronx-born rapper’s glass ceiling smashing are showing themselves. Before Cardi reached No. 1, the last female rapper to do so was Lauryn Hill 20 years before. This time around, it only took two years for another woman in hip-hop to follow in Cardi’s footsteps as Lizzo’s “Truth Hurts” officially topped the chart today. As always, Cardi was there to support her successor, writing a celebratory tweet praising Lizzo’s achievement. The fact that Lizzo a couple months ago felt underestimated and now she have...

Post Malone Is The Last Knight Standing In His ‘Circles’ Video

[ad_1] [embed]https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wXhTHyIgQ_U[/embed] Post Malone finally confirmed info about his upcoming album recently: It’s called Hollywood’s Bleeding, and it is set for release really soon, on September 6. He also shared the single “Circles,” which is a bit of a departure from his usual hip-hop sound. On a similar note, Malone also departs from his usual role in the new video for the song: Instead of a fun-loving, beer pong-playing rapper, he is a knight, apparently the last one left after a gruesome battle. The video goes on a fairy tale-like path from there, as Malone finds himself on a journey to rescue a woman in need. Malone performed the song with Sublime With Rome...
